Disclaimer

We help you read and compare the figures on magnesium labels. We can’t tell you whether a supplement is right for you, so this is general information, not advice.

Nothing here is medical advice. We don’t tell you whether to take a supplement, which one, or how much. Magnesium can interact with some medicines and health conditions. So ask a pharmacist, doctor or dietitian who knows your situation before you start. Always read the label and follow the directions for use.

What the figures are

Each figure was read from a pack, a brand page, a shop listing or the national register (ARTG) on the date shown. Or we worked it out from those, with the maths shown. We don’t test products, so nothing here measures what’s inside a tablet.

What the marks mean, and don’t mean

“Adds up” and “mostly adds up” mean the stated figures we could check agree under a standard share of magnesium. “Stated mg above maths”, “stated mg below maths” and “listing figures don’t match” mean two stated figures don’t agree. There are ordinary reasons: a second compound the source didn’t list, a version holding a different amount of water, rounding or a typo. None of these marks is a finding about the product’s contents, its quality, or the conduct of its maker.

Testing marks describe what we could open during a check. “Test document linked” means we opened one. It doesn’t mean we checked its contents, or that it covers the batch you buy. “Testing claimed, no document found” doesn’t mean testing didn’t happen. “No testing claim found” is true of most products here, and isn’t a criticism.

AUST L

AUST L means the product is a listed medicine. It may contain only pre-approved, low-risk ingredients and make only pre-approved, low-level claims. Its sponsor certifies that it meets the rules. The TGA, Australia’s medicines regulator, did not evaluate this particular product before it went on sale.

Prices

Prices are the RRP, or the regular shelf price, at a named shop on a stated date. We don’t use sale prices, so you may pay less. Check the pack in your hand and the price at the till.

Links and names

Other sites are responsible for their own content, and a link isn’t an endorsement. Brand names belong to their owners. We use them only to identify the products.

How it’s made, and errors

Checks are done with AI help and reviewed by a human editor, who isn’t a clinician, chemist or regulator. Errors are possible. We correct them with the date and reason: see corrections and right of reply.
